I am a state-licensed Substance Use Disorder Counselor who is honored to be able to work with clients in a community which is diligently fighting to reduce stigma, educate the public, and provide resources to those who are in some way affected by this disease. I recently re-enrolled back into school to continue my education in hope to someday expand my practice.
There are many paths which lead one to addiction, and not one which should ever be judged. When we allow ourselves the grace to step back, break down, and relinquish control of what can at times feel to be an impossible battle, we also allow space for much needed healthy changes to occur. I take pride in meeting my clients where they are at, allowing them to explore what recovery looks like to them, while encouraging, and gently challenging them to make small pivots, rather than full 360 degree turns.
What can seem to be the “darkest” times, full of unknowns and impulsive thoughts and actions, become much more manageable when taken in stride, and with trusted resources in place. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, I provide a safe space for clients to explore a new way of thinking, which then transpires into a new way of living.
Substance Use Disorder is a disease that affects not only the person, but the entire family, and carries with it heavy shame and stigma, sometimes making it hard for people to ask for help. One of the greatest aspects of Collaborative Wellness is the ability and importance each clinician places on keeping our client’s privacy and confidentiality safe.
As a counselor, I enjoy working with people of all ages, in individual and group settings. I utilize a trauma-informed, evidence-based approach which allows for different forms of exploration and healing. Many are still living in the darkness suffering. My passion and hope is to be a lamp to their feet, and a light to their path!
